Venice day ticket: vaporetto prices, comparison & savings tips

All ACTV ticket prices 2026 at a glance. With calculation examples and savings calculator for every stay.

A one-way ticket for the vaporetto costs €9.50 and is only valid for 75 minutes. With two or three trips a day, it quickly becomes expensive - so a day or multi-day ticket is almost always worthwhile. On this page you will find all the current ACTV prices for 2026, a savings calculator and specific recommendations for different lengths of stay.

All tickets are valid for unlimited travel on the entire ACTV network: vaporetto, buses in Mestre and Marghera, streetcar and People Mover. Validity is in hours from the first validation - not in calendar days.

Which day ticket is worthwhile?

A one-way ticket costs from 9,50 €. This makes it easy to calculate the number of journeys from which a pass is cheaper.

Saving tips for the Vaporetto Pass

Validity begins with validation

Your ticket is only valid from the first journey - not when you buy or print it out. So you can buy it online days in advance and redeem the code at the ticket machine without the clock ticking.

🔢

Calculate in hours, not days

A 48-hour ticket that is validated on Thursday at 14:00 is valid until Saturday at 13:59. This allows you to take advantage of full days if you start in the afternoon.

🚶

Don't always take the vaporetto

For short distances within the city center, walking is often faster than waiting for the next vaporetto. It is better to use the pass for longer distances (islands, Grand Canal).

🏝️

Island excursion on the first day

The trip to Murano, Burano and Torcello alone requires 4-6 one-way tickets (€28.50-57.00). This means that the 24-hour pass pays for itself immediately.

🎓

Under 30? Use Rolling Venice

The Rolling Venice Card (€6) reduces the 72-hour pass from €45 to €27 - a total of €33 instead of €45. This is the biggest discount available for tourists.

Frequently asked questions about vaporetto prices

Is the day ticket for Venice worth it?
Yes, in most cases. A one-way ticket costs €9.50 and is only valid for 75 minutes. The 24-hour pass for €25 is worthwhile from 3 trips a day. Since an island trip to Murano and Burano alone requires 4 one-way tickets, the pass is almost always the better choice.
Is there a family ticket for the vaporetto?
No, ACTV does not offer an official family ticket. Children under the age of 6 travel free of charge. A regular ticket must be purchased for children aged 6 and over. The only discount for tourists is the Rolling Venice Card for 6-29 year olds.
Are there discounts for senior citizens?
No, there is no senior discount for tourists. Reduced fares for over 65s only apply to residents of the Veneto region with an ACTV Venezia Unica resident card.
Which is cheaper: buying online in advance or tap-to-pay on site?
Tap-to-pay (contactless payment) has been available directly at ACTV readers since 2024. The system automatically calculates the cheapest fare. The advantage of buying in advance: you know the price in advance and have planning security. With tap-to-pay, billing only takes place 1-2 days later and the result depends on whether the calculation is correct.
